According to reports, Chiefs may be entitled to pay for Mdaka because he is under the age of 24, as required by FIFA standards.
Mdaka was regarded as a long-term asset for AmaZulu, particularly given the likely departure of dependable left-back Riaan Hanamub, who has sparked interest from Orlando Pirates.
However, difficulties with Mdaka’s release clause have delayed the deal from being finalised.
With the deal for Mdaka falling through, has decided to sign Sifiso Ngobeni on loan from until the end of the season.
Pablo Franco Martin, AmaZulu’s coach, recognised Mdaka’s ability and expressed interest in him.
