Pep Guardiola Wants Reunion with Bayern Munich Star Joshua Kimmich at Manchester City
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is reportedly keen on reuniting with Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich at the Etihad Stadium.
According to a report by TeamTALK, the Cityzens are confident that the German midfielder will opt to join them next year.
Guardiola has a history with Kimmich, having previously coached him during his stint at Bayern Munich between 2013 and 2016.
The Spanish coach views the versatile 28-year-old as an ideal addition to his side. Kimmich’s ability to play in various midfield positions makes him an attractive prospect for Guardiola’s team.
Kimmich has been a vital cog in Bayern Munich’s system for several years. His current contract with the Bavarians expires in the summer of 2025.
However, the midfielder is reportedly unsettled at Bayern, which could open the door for a move to Manchester City. If a new contract is not signed, Bayern may be forced to cash in on Kimmich next summer.
The German international can play as a holding midfielder, a deep-lying playmaker, or in a box-to-box role.
Despite any disagreements with Bayern’s current head coach Thomas Tuchel, Kimmich has consistently started for the club in both Bundesliga and Champions League matches, providing four assists so far this season.
With several top European clubs keeping tabs on Kimmich, it will be interesting to see how this transfer saga unfolds. Guardiola’s desire for a reunion with the talented midfielder adds another layer of intrigue to the upcoming transfer window.
